Seems sorta standard at this point but I won another small $11 Mtt. This was last Saturday that I took this one down. According to thepokerdb, this is my 8th win on FTP since June 2006. This one was a nice boost of confidence because I had been struggling up until the win and I felt I played really well. At the final table I was down to 4bbs and eventually got heads up a 8:1 dog in chips yet I felt confident. If not the strongest, I feel heads up is one of the strongest aspects of my game. Against this player who was pretty bad, I really didn’t care to constantly raise from the button, I just wanted to see a flop because I was very confident I could outplay him after the flop and eventually trap him for all his chips. It didn’t take me too long to come back and take it down which felt good.
99% of the time you play a mtt, you are going to bust feeling dissapointed, the only time you’re happy is when you win and so its always really nice to win. Now while this win wasn’t huge as far as money is concerned, it along with a couple of other final tables in $26s will allow me to move up comfortably. While I havn’t been the type of blogger to discuss specific numbers, I will now be playing $25 Mtts as my average tournament buy-in comfortably. I’m still not at the point where I’m comfortable going through a 20 conescutive cashless streak in $25 mtts but I’m just going to have to deal with it because I have a bankroll that is certainly capable of withstanding that and still being a healthy bankroll for $20 mtts.
Wish Me Luck!

Sup kids-
Hope all is going well in life and at the tables. Poker has been very +ev for me, as I have continued to have success in the 180 mans on Stars (a couple more final tables in the past few days… this is getting ridiculous =P) I’ve been doing good (…or running good?) in the MTT scene too, which I’m pretty stoked about. 3rd in the Midnight Madness last week… meh, should’ve been 1st but it just turned into a big crapshoot at the end. So far things have been good. Just cashed out a bit last week, so I’ll have some extra dough to spend. But yeah, school is going slow… couple of midterms this week so I won’t be playing till after my tests. Like I said before, I have a pretty chill schedule. Life is good, school is good, poker is good.
And on that note, watch out, because I’m gonna take over the world… I promise

I’m typing this on my brand new laptop. Now while for most poker players, this wouldn’t be that big of a deal because they’re already playing on a laptop and always have been playing on a laptop but for me its a big deal. I’ve never had a laptop until now. Its a brand new Dell Inspiron E1705 with a 17″ screen with 1920 x 1200 resolution. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love it. I think the thing that I love most about it is that its mine and that I dont have to share it with anyone so I can put on it what I want. I’ve never been able to do this as I’ve had to share a computer with at least one other person my whole life. The most important thing about getting this new laptop is the fact that I’ll be able to play whenever I want which is huge for me. Again, I’ve never been able to do this before but now I can. I’ll be playing a ton more than I have been since I started playing poker which I’m super excited about.
Now I’ll be starting this new step with the same bankroll I started 2007 with. I’ve helped a couple friends out and also have really been sliding as of late which I’m sure is due to poor play and also I havn’t been running good.
I’ve been thinking deeply about the game lately and come to a few conclusions. Granted, up until now I havn’t been able to play nearly that much as I would’ve liked to but I’ve put in enough volume to be able to evaluate my game. What I’ve concluded is that I am what I play meaning that I’m a $20 Mtt player. Thats just a fact. I’ve beaten/crushed everything from $1 mtts-$15 mtts but in my opinion thats all I’ve beaten. I mean sure I’ve played a ton of tournaments bigger than $20s but I havn’t “beaten” them consistently.
I’m just going to take my bankroll, make sure I keep managing it well and hope for the best. I might actually reduce my average buy in due to the fact that I’ll be playing a ton more Mtts. I just have to make sure I start playing a lot better and make sure that I keep learning from my mistakes and control my emotions better. I feel those are the two biggest leaks that have stopped me from moving up the ladder a lot quicker. If I can plug even one of those two links I think I would become 10x better. We’ll see what happens though and I’ll keep ya updated.

First off I wanna apologize for not posting a new entry in a loooooooong time. The Pokerhaus has been down a lot lately and I know for a long period of time I couldn’t even access my blog so for that I am truly sorry.
Looking back on a couple of past entries I realized that I never mentioned signing up for Poker X Factor. I signed up a while ago but for some reason I never mentioned it. I’ve been watching vids like crazy and I truly think that my game has greatly improved because of it. What it did was that it proved to me that an older style that I used was actually probably the best style for myself. Also, its pointed out a ton of small leaks that I have like flicking in the small blind for cheap with a hand like Q4o, when there’s no reason to. I feel that the more I watch, the more I learn and hopefully the better I get.
Lets see, well I also won another small tournament. It was another $11 Mtt with about 300 people in it which helped boost the roll and confidence a little bit. My bankroll is at a point now where I can comfortably play a lot of different tournaments and I need to start playing some more high freezeout tournaments with bad structures because I need these “small wins” to become small wins for a couple grand instead of a grand. I don’t like putting up a higher buy in on a consistent basis but in order to continue to move up the ladder I’m going to need to do just that. I don’t mind putting up a higher buy in as long as it has a good structure but I think I’m gonna have to start playing bigger tournaments with a shitty structure.
Recently I ordered a brand new Dell laptop, which will be my first laptop ever. Its pretty sick, with a top of the line 17” screen for multi-tabling. I don’t wanna get too far ahead of myself but if it all works out meaning that it hooks up ok, runs ok, gets the wireless connection ok, then this is going to be life changing for my online poker career. I’ll be able to play as many tournaments as I want and when I want, which I’m not able to do now being in High School and all. In the past year and change that I’ve been playing online poker somewhat “seriously” for the most part I’ve only been able to play on weekends with the exception of a couple sngs during the week if you can believe that. With the laptop, I’ll be able to play a couple tournaments a night and every weekend I’ll be able to play unlike before when some weekends I was not allowed to play. Of course I’ll still be handicapped having to go to school but hopefully with this new laptop, I’ll be able to put in a ton more volume of Mtts.
Peace

HAI KIDS-
So winter quarter just ended and spring quarter just started this past Wednesday. I don’t have class on Mondays and Fridays, so that’s a 4-day weekend every weekend.. go me! But I’ll still be pretty busy studying for the upcoming MCAT on May 11th, so I won’t be playing a TON like before, but definitely a lot more than last quarter. So yeah school just started this past Wednesday and I have a pretty chill schedule like I said. Started playing again, but this time jumping into the 180 man tournaments on PokerStars. I had played a couple over winter break, having some success in them; I made like 2 final tables during that one week I played. Anyway so I’ve been playing the 180s this past week and I’ve done pretty well. These past 7 days have included 5 final tables! Results: two 1sts, a 4th, a 5th, and a 6th. They pay pretty well too so that’s always good haha. I actually just got 4th like an hour ago. I was trying to win 2 FTs in one day… sad to see it didn’t happen though =( Also been branching out into MTTs… I had started to play em before I went into poker hibernation so I’m back at it again. Hopefully they turn out as well as the 180s! It’s getting late, and even though I don’t have class Mondays I’m pretty damn tired. GG GL kids
